Color, material, technique – themes that have always fascinated artists. Michelangelo was already fascinated by marble and incorporated its natural form into his sculptures. Canvas, camera and paint also offer new and unusual ways of dealing with them, as Christina Huber, Heiko Huber and Irmi Obermayer show in “Strikingly Different”.
Christina Huber’spaintings are characterized by three-dimensional forms in the fabric, which are created by a glue solution. The works are inspired by the gestures of the fingers and the color nuances of a touch screen, which cannot be captured photographically.
Heiko Huber’sphotographs, on the other hand, capture sleep and dreams. In his series “even when i sleep”, he mixes the techniques of multiple and long exposures and creates fragile full-body shots and dreamy landscapes by breaking space and time.
Irmi Obermeyer takes old oil paints and reinterprets them. The paint lands on paper or Plexiglas and is spread across the surface with a broad brush. The result is a snapshot of a fleeting movement.
