Art and technology, man and machine. Artists have always explored the tension between the human and the artificial. Whether it was the first locomotives, steam engines or cars, new machines suddenly found their way into the visual worlds of creative artists. But technical achievements also influenced art in terms of the working methods themselves: artists have been making use of this new technology since the early days of photographic equipment. Today, the sheer unlimited possibilities of the digital offer media designers, artists and photographers new ways of expressing themselves artistically.
The “Menschanik” exhibition explores all these facets in the field of tension between man and technology.
