Works by Thai Ho Pham, Martyna Bielicka and Tom Kristen will be presented at the opening of the Anna25 Gallery in Berlin.
Thai Ho Pham presents further works from his “Cycle of Banality” series, in which he turns the everyday realities of life into art. Banal things such as drinking a coffee, sitting in the countryside or window shopping are captured in his paintings. Inspired by the technology of our time, the artist relies on the new media, which are transformed by printing and painting. A new perception of reality emerges.
The Polish artist Martyna Bielicka presents further works from her series “Postmodern City of Women”. The graphics are inspired by the work of the French writer Christine de Pizan. The 15th century woman was the first recognized female writer in the world and her most famous work “Le Livre de la Cité des Dames” (“The Book of the City of Women”) is considered the first feminist work in literary history. The graphics created by the artist, printed using a technique she developed herself, are a tribute to this woman and her work.
A question about the meaning of symbolism arises in the paintings of Tom Kristen. In his works, the Lower Bavarian artist creates a world of his own, which is based on realities he has experienced. However, the viewer does not need to know these to gain their own view of the works. His characteristic figures are built into fairy-tale landscapes and environments that raise the question of what these objects mean and what the figures are doing in this world.
